Summary:
New Hampshire Motor Speedway, the largest sports and entertainment facility in New England, is seeking a highly-motivated and dedicated intern to join our communications department. The primary responsibility of this position will focus on gaining hands-on experience in the motorsports industry through various communications projects.

Job Responsibilities:
• Assist in the planning, preparation, and execution of press conferences and media events
• Assist in the organization of the media center and press box before and after events
• Assist with the development, editing, and proofing of press releases, media guides, souvenir programs, fan guides, and brochures.
• Assist with special projects and promotions developed by the department
• Helping to maintain current media contact list.
• Assist with updating and posting to the speedway website and social media accounts.

Skills and Attributes:
• Video editing experience, preferably in Final Cut, a plus.
• Ability to contribute creative ideas and concepts.
• Strong writing skills are essential.
• Ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced live environment while keeping a positive attitude.
• Ability to remain extremely flexible in an ever changing environment.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines.
• Ability to work flexible and non-traditional hours including nights and weekends.

Experience and Education:

Digital Media Intern (Summer 2015) - New Hampshire Motor Speedway (Loudon, NH)

Summary

New Hampshire Motor Speedway is looking for a highly-motivated Digital Media Intern that is prepared to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.  The focus of the internship will be to assist the Digital Media Manger in daily operations and content production across digital media platforms.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist the Digital Media Manager with daily content production on NHMS.com, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram.
  • Edit promotional and track-related videos using Final Cut Pro.
  • Work assigned weekends to provide media coverage of track-related events or to operate the @NHMS Twitter account during NASCAR races.
  • Learn to use Google Analytics and Facebook Insights to produce regular reports on website and Facebook traffic.
  • Gain a working knowledge of the NHMS.com content management system to update the website and generate the monthly newsletter.
  • Assist the Communications Department where needed, including with event planning and execution.

Skills and Attributes

  • Video editing experience with Final Cut Pro is required.
  • Experience video taping live action and conducting interviews.
  • Understanding of social media: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram.
  • Experience with Adobe Suite, primarily Photoshop, is a plus.
  • A working knowledge of NASCAR and auto racing in general.
  • Ability to listen and adapt in a fast-paced environment, and take responsibility for projects from start to finish.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends.  This includes the Sept. NASCAR race as a completion of the internship.

Experience and Education

Degree-seeking college student majoring in communications, journalism, or related field.

This is a credit-based program and an unpaid internship.  College credit must be received.  Housing, transportation, or relocation will not be provided.

Operations Intern - New Hampshire Motor Speedway (Loudon, NH)

Hours: 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. Tuesday through Friday*

Supervisor: Tom Blanchette; Director of Operations; NHMS

Duration:  April 1, – October 31, 2015; adjustable based upon course scheduling.

Duties:

-          Research new event ideas, vendors, and entertainment.

-          Assist in the execution of all events, including LRRS, track rental, and NASCAR race weekends.

-          Assist in day to day activities for operations of LRRS.

-          Assist in managing Granite State Legend Car shop.

-          Assist in marketing and promotion of Granite State Legend Cars.

-          Assist in distributing credentials during major event weekends.

-          Ability to work independently and in a group setting.

-          Provide exceptional customer and fan service.

-          Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Must be receiving course credit, this is an unpaid internship

Must be available to work weekends

Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds

Must have sufficient experience with Microsoft Office

Must have ability to use basic power tools

Must have general knowledge of basic construction techniques

Ticket Operations Manager - New Hampshire Motor Speedway (Loudon, NH)

Summary

The Ticket Operation Manager reports directly to the VP of Ticket Sales and Operations and will be responsible for oversight, management and accountability for the ticket operations department at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of ticket operations department including the box office and day of race ticket operations}
  • Fully understand Ticketmaster/Archtics systems
  • Work closely with Ticketmaster to resolve any issues that may arise
  • Process all ticket order: Season Tickets, Group Tickets, Camping and Individual Race Tickets
  • Oversee Ticket Operations: Staffing, Cash Handling, Deposits
  • Work closely with CFO and Controller to ensure reconciliation and reports are accurate
  • Be able to build race schedule in Archtics system and other manifest needs
  • Candidate must be able to prepare and pull reports
  • Manage cash payments
  • Work closely with Tickets Sales Manager, Sponsorship and Media Relations department for internal/external ticket request
  • Develop and maintain files/reports on each event for ticket sales, group sales, comp tickets and internal audit reports
  • Reconcile daily cash and credit card sales with Controller
  • Oversee ordering ticket stalk, camping and credential ordering
  • Issue and track all complimentary ticket requests, coupons, vouchers, gift certificates and other special promotion opportunities
  • Interact with fans and provide/resolve ticketing issues
  • Train, manage, recruit and lead box office race day operations staff

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and operations experience
  • 3+ years of ticket operations
  • Extensive experience with Ticketmaster systems and Archtics
  • Willingness to learn in fast paced environment
  • Extremely detail oriented
  • Ability to work flexible hours including, but not limited to evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Efficient in excel and other database management systems
  • Excellent customer service skills

Ticket Sales Manager - New Hampshire Motor Speedway (Loudon, NH)

Summary

The Ticket Sales Manager work closely with the VP of Ticket Sales and Operations and will be responsible for staffing, sales training/development and management of ticket sellers.  Ticket Sales Manager will work with marketing team to implement dedicated sales campaigns to achieve targeted revenue and sales goals for New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides a hands-on role in the hiring and managing of a dedicated staff of ticket sales (including group sales) representatives 
  • Assists in managing the overall ticket sales efforts (including camping), directing sales activities, setting and reviewing sales goals and training and mentoring the staff
  • Assists staff in the development, planning and understanding of ticket products
  • Monitor volume of outbound phone calls and reporting of sales results for the ticket sales department
  • Provides reporting information by maintaining and being able to produce on a regular basis accurate reports of call volume, sales and account maintenance
  • Use proactive tactics to create new sales opportunities
  • Create unique sales incentives to help engage and motivate
  • Establish professional relationships to create repeat business
  • Set up and maintain up-to-date records on existing customers and prospects in NHMS database
  • Work NHMS’s NASCAR and other events for the purpose of managing staff and supporting ticket sales efforts and promotional initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned by VP of Ticket Sales and Operations

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and sales experience
  • 3+ years of ticket sales management and training
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with Ticketmaster systems and Archtics
  • Willingness to learn in fast paced environment
