Tour Guides need to be high energy individuals that can engage the race fan during all Charlotte Motor Speedway’s daily tours and event time tours. Guides need to have a flexible work schedule and possess exceptional customer service and communication skills.

Job Responsibilities:
• Greet and provide top-notch customer service to all visitors of Charlotte Motor Speedway by effectively answering questions, providing directions, and selling tours.
• Provide safe tours to the general public and groups
               o  Feel the Thrill Tour
               o Over the Wall Tour
               o STEM Education Tours
               o Trackside Tram Tours during race week
               o NASCAR Hall of Fame Tours
               o Race Shop Tours
• Inform the Tour Services Manager when maintenance and care is needed on the tour vans.
• Solicit group tours and conventions to purchase daily tours
• Utilize Archtic ticket system by selling daily tours through it, adding customer accounts and doing end of the day ticket reports.
• Responsible for keeping scripts up-to-date and needs to be knowledgeable of the ticket packages available to fans.
• Responsible for fueling vans prior to usage and cleanliness of vehicles
• Enjoy working with fans of all ages

Requirements:
• Experience with Microsoft Office products, Outlook and PCs is required

• Maintaining all property restrooms

• Running commercial carpet cleaner
• Completing work requests for specialty cleaning

The Communications department offers interns practical experience writing press releases, planning press conferences and executing promotions for our events. This department typically selects two interns per semester. Strong writing skills are a plus and public relations or journalism majors are preferred. Interns must be able to work 35-40 hours per week plus all events held during the semester.
Writing samples required: include 2-3 samples from a course or student newspaper.

The Events Department offers interns practical experience in the production and promotion of national, regional and grassroots events.
We are seeking quick-learning and self starting candidates who desire to gain an extensive working knowledge of NASCAR, short-track, drag racing, and static events. In addition to assisting in administrative and office duties, candidates will be required to assist with registration and sign in of competitors, lifting and moving of event supplies and equipment, ticket sales and various other race day duties. Additional non-event duties may include assisting other departments with promotional appearances, covering telephones, data entry, stuffing mailers, etc.
Ideal candidates must be a team player, customer-friendly, organized, outgoing, professional and able to deal effectively with frequent interruptions in a demanding environment. Due to the dynamic nature of the business, multi-tasking skills and the ability to think on the fly are a must. Excellent computer and customer relation skills are a must. Knowledge of the short-track and drag racing industry is a plus.

The Guest Services and Logistics Department is seeking candidates who are self-starting and able to multitask in a fast paced environment. Interns in this department need exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Responsibilities include event planning, staffing and guest services/hospitality. Interns will help with the logistics of security, parking, ushers, ticket takers, and event management that is key to any event at CMS-especially the highly charged NASCAR events with over 150,000 fans in attendance. Criminal Justice applicants are also encouraged as we coordinate with law enforcement on the local, state and federal level.
Intern must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week plus all events held during the semester.

This department involves working with clients and sponsors on a national, regional and local level. The Corporate Sales Department focuses on fully developing integrated marketing partnerships between the client and the speedway. This department seeks outgoing, creative, highly motivated, can-do individuals with good communication skills. The Corporate Sales Department looks for two interns each semester.

Specific Intern Duties: Assist in devising marketing campaigns and proposals for existing clients and new prospects within the motorsports industry; assist in marketing presentations, daily research on events and other sports marketing opportunities and best practices; client service related duties; routine office duties such as answering the phones and filing; database management. The ability to work with multiple divisions and departments of SMI which focus on all aspects of the motorsports industry is necessary.

SMI is looking for energetic interns who can work a minimum of 25 hours per week plus all events held during the semester. Hours during event time can require early morning arrival and late departures and on weekends. We will work with any level college student. Majors which would best fit the internship include: Marketing, Public Relations, Economics, Sports Management and Motorsports; however, we are open to others who may be interested in the event business.

The mission of Speedway Children’s Charities is: To care for children in educational, financial, social and medical need in order to help them lead productive lives. SCC is seeking an intern with experience in communications and event planning. Duties include compiling detailed information for press releases, organizing fund- raisers, and administrative/office work. Candidates must have a strong passion for helping others, a positive attitude and excellent planning skills.

Interns working in the Security Department will be responsible for assisting the officer on duty with attending to the first floor lobby office during normal business hours by answering guest's questions, answering the phone, and operating the camera system for potential issue. Daily activities include- locking and unlocking doors, gates, and offices; the signing in and out of keys; monitoring deliveries in and out of the building through the loading docks; and helping to make the public feel welcome and wanted. The Security intern will also help out other departments as needed, such as our Guest Services and Logistics team. Making our guests' visit to CMS as enjoyable as possible is one of our top priorities.

PRN broadcasts live radio play-by-play NASCAR action and also syndicates five racing programs to over 700 stations nationwide. PRN is looking for motivated and energetic interns with a desire to excel in the fields of motor sports, marketing, sales, public relations, and broadcasting. Interns with PRN are given the opportunity to work in many areas including sales, affiliations and on-air broadcasting. A sampling of intern responsibilities include: researching new clients, assisting in proposals and presentations, data input, assisting in broadcast production, processing affidavits.

Intern must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours per week plus all events held during the semester.

This department is seeking intern applicants who are interested in event marketing and advertisement. Interns will assist with ticket promotions and consumer sales initiatives. The Consumer Marketing and Sales department hires one - two interns per semester and looks for someone who is energetic and able to multi-task in a fast-changing environment. Compiling and maintaining database information is also expected.
Interns must be able to work a minimum of 25 hours per week and all events held during the semester.

The Track Services Department (Emergency Services/Emergency Management) is seeking candidates who are self-starting and able to multitask in a fast paced environment. Interns in this department need exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Responsibilities include event planning, staffing and guest assistance in time of need. Interns will help with the logistics of emergency action planning, emergency medical services, fire and life safety, track/SAFER wall preparation, on track emergency responders, and event management that is key to any event at CMS-especially the highly charged NASCAR events with over 150,000 fans in attendance. CMS is one of the busiest facilities in the country and this internship will help with track rental customers (Richard Petty Driving Experience), commercial shoots and concerts. Some emergency services experience would be helpful, but not a requirement. This is a hands on, fast paced internship. A lot of experience will be gained in event preparation and planning.

We are currently seeking new groups to participate in Ushering and Parking for the upcoming events at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

This is a great way to maximize profits and be a part of the action. CMS will provide your group a fun, fast-paced, and exciting environment to reach your fund raising goals!

Responsibilities for Ushers:

• Enthusiastically greets, escorts and/or directs guests to their assigned seat and answers questions concerning the facility, event and other information.
• Ushers may be responsible for wristbanding, keeping aisles clear, and operating elevators.
• Ushers will interact with guests to provide exceptional guest services.
• Facilitate the resolution of ticketing and seating issues, guest complaints and contact with your supervisor to report any accidents or injuries.

Responsibilities for Parking Attendants:

• Direct Charlotte Motor Speedway guests to proper parking lots safely and efficiently
• Direct individuals with special parking passes to proper locations
• Provide excellent customer service to fans, guests and employees. Respond to inquiries from guests regarding the facility, rules and regulations

Qualifications for Parking Attendants & Ushers:

• 16 years of age or older
• Friendly and personable. Excellent customer service skills required!
• A team player, must work well with others
• This position requires considerable physical activity involving walking, standing and directing traffic for extended periods of time in ALL outdoor weather conditions

What does my group need to get started?
Fantastic, committed, hard working volunteers who are at least 16 years of age. Certification that the organization is a non- profit, tax exempt organization as defined in Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Lastly, a designated group leader, in charge of the assigned location from open to close.

What positions will my group be able to volunteer for? How much can my group earn?
Your group has an opportunity to volunteer as Parking Attendants and Ushers. Your group will be paid based on your groups availability and how many people you can provide on event day.

Do you provide training?
YES! The minimum requirement for training will be an online e-learning class but any additional training may be required.
