 Charlotte Motor Speedway, is seeking a highly-motivated and dedicated intern to join our Camping Department. The primary responsibility of this position is to gain hands-on experience in the field of marketing & operations through various event projects.


Job Responsibilities:
• Assist in the planning, preparation, and execution of camping activities & events.
• Assist in the daily organization of camping office.
• Assist in communicating important notices and information to customers and employees.
• Assist with the development, editing, and proofing of camper newsletters, schedules, and activity flyers.
• Assist with special projects and promotions developed by the department.
• Assist with updating and posting to the speedway website and social media accounts.

The Communications department offers interns practical experience writing press releases, planning press conferences, producing and editing web videos, executing social-media campaigns, and executing promotions for our events. This department involves working with clients and sponsors on a national, regional and local level. The Corporate Sales Department focuses on fully developing integrated marketing partnerships between the client and the speedway. This department seeks outgoing, creative, highly motivated, can-do individuals with good communication skills. The Corporate Sales Department looks for 2-3 interns each semester.

Specific Intern Duties: Assisting Sales Executives with sales proposals for existing and potential clients, research of companies and other possible sales opportunities, activating one of our many events which include, NASCAR, NHRA, World of Outlaws, Monster Trucks, and 2 yearly Car Shows. Daily office duties such as answering phone calls, filing, data management would also be a part of the position.

The Events Department offers interns practical experience in the production, promotion and execution of national, regional and grassroots events.

We are seeking quick-learning and self-starting candidates who desire to gain an extensive working knowledge of NASCAR, short-track, drag racing, and special events. In addition to assisting in administrative and office duties, candidates will be required to assist with registration and sign in of competitors, lifting and moving of event supplies and equipment, ticket sales and various other race day duties. Additional non-event duties may include assisting other departments with promotional appearances, covering telephones, data entry, stuffing mailers, etc.

Ideal candidates must be a team player, customer-friendly, organized, outgoing, professional and able to deal effectively with frequent interruptions in a demanding environment. Due to the dynamic nature of the business, multi-tasking skills and the ability to think on the fly are a must. Excellent computer and customer relation skills are a must. Knowledge of the short-track and drag racing industry is a plus.

The Guest Services and Logistics Department is seeking candidates who are self-starting and able to multitask in a fast paced and an always changing environment. Candidates who are looking to gain a working knowledge of NASCAR, drag racing, short track, and other various events need exceptional interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to think on the fly.

Responsibilities include event planning, staffing and guest services/hospitality. Interns will help with the logistics of security, parking, ushers, ticket takers, and event management that is key to any event at CMS-especially the highly charged NASCAR events with over 150,000 fans in attendance. Interns will also be responsible for the daily communication with our fans via telephone and email and helping other departments when needed.

We are looking for individuals that are interested and enthusiastic about experiencing what it would be like to work for Speedway Motorsports Inc.  The Operations Department is seeking candidates who are self-starting and able to multitask in a fast paced changing environment. Candidates who are looking to gain a working knowledge from the operational aspects of a super speedway with multiply events which will include NASCAR racing, Auto Fairs, Track Rentals, and daily maintenance of our facilities.
Interns will help with the administrative duties to include answering the phone calls, purchase orders, copying, and researching upcoming projects in the operational department. Daily tracking activities will include facility maintenance, equipment repairs, fuel usage, work orders, and time sheets. As part of this internship you will learn how cost associate with these activities affect the overall operating budgets for an event.
Applicant need to have computer knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word required, data entry will be a part of the daily activities. Good communication skills required by phone and email to communicate incoming requests to our operational team.

PRN broadcasts live radio play-by-play NASCAR action and also syndicates five racing programs to over 700 stations nationwide.   • Assist Director of Racing Operations in all aspects of on-track and competition racing operations.
    Including but not limited to:o Day-to-day staff management

CMS is one of the busiest facilities in the country and this internship will help with track rental customers. This is a hands on, fast paced internship. A lot of experience will be gained in event preparation and planning.

Interns working in the Security Department will be responsible for assisting the officer on duty with attending to the first floor lobby office during normal business hours by answering guest's questions, answering the phone, and operating the camera system for potential issue.

Daily activities include- locking and unlocking doors, gates, and offices; the signing in and out of keys; monitoring deliveries in and out of the building through the loading docks; and helping to make the public feel welcome and wanted. Ticket Sales Department Intern (Spring 2015: January - End of May) - Charlotte Motor Speedway (Concord, NC)

The Ticket Sales Department offers hands on experience in ticket sales and customer relations. Interns must be comfortable interacting with customers and visitors to CMS. Interns are expected to become part of the team fulfilling orders, providing customer service and problem solving; interns, like all working in the Ticket Sales Department, must be flexible and willing to work with other departments.

Internship opportunities are available in the spring, summer and fall semesters. This department sells tickets daily for all CMS, Dirt Track, and Dragway events. Interns will assist in mass mailings and help maintain a master database of fans by updating information as needed. Interns need to be flexible and willing to work long hours if needed.

The Tour Department is seeking intern candidates who are high energy, self-starting and able to multitask in a fast paced environment. Tour Interns must possess exceptional customer service and communication skills. Interns will be responsible for providing top notch service to all visitors of Charlotte Motor Speedway by effectively answering questions, providing directions, and selling tours. Interns will also be responsible for providing a safe and exciting tour to the general public and soliciting group tours and conventions.

Tours interns must be 21 years or older and able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week plus all events held during the semester.

Volunteer for Tram/Shuttle Bus Drivers - Non-Profit Organizations: EVENT TIMES ONLY - Charlotte Motor Speedway (Concord, NC)

 If you are part of a Non-Profit group and you are looking for a new way to raise funds, Charlotte Motor Speedway has the answer for you!

We are currently seeking new groups to participate as Tram/Shuttle Bus drivers for the upcoming events at Charlotte Motor Speedway.  Drivers with a CDL license a plus but, not mandatory.

This is a great way to maximize profits and be a part of the action. CMS will provide your group a fun, fast-paced, and exciting environment to reach your fund raising goals!

Job Responsibilities:
• SAFELY transport guests to each CMS venue.
• Greet all guests with a smile and engage them accordingly.
• Drive tram/shuttle bus routes as assigned by Transportation Coordinator.
• Possess knowledge of facilities and overall property layout.
• Answer questions about various CMS tram routes and event day happening.
• Inspect overall safety, appearance, and cleanliness of all vehicles and report any issues to your group supervisor.
• Handle special requests as assigned by your group supervisor.

Listed below are the answers to a few of our most commonly asked questions. This information will give you an overview of our program and what you need to know to get your organization involved in the events at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

What does my group need to get started?
Fantastic, committed, hard working volunteers who are at least 21 years of age.  Certification that the organization is a non- profit, tax exempt organization as defined in Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Lastly, a designated group leader, in charge of the assigned location from open to close.

What positions will my group be able to volunteer for? How much can my group earn?
Your group has an opportunity to volunteer as Tram Drivers and Bus Drivers. Pay is determined by the number of groups that your group is able to provide.

Do you provide training?
YES! All members of the group must complete an online training class as well as a on site training class at Charlotte Motor Speedway. If group members do not complete the training, they are unable to work.

The zMAX Dragway at Charlotte Motor Speedway is seeking quick-learning and highly motivated intern applicants. Interns in this department need to be able to multi-task in a fast-changing environment.
