Atlanta Motor Speedway is seeking a passionate and highly motivated sales professional to join the Corporate Sales Team as a Business Development Executive.

Job Summary: The ideal candidate must be a successful salesperson with proven results. The ability to build and cultivate relationships with corporate leaders in the Atlanta market through cold calling, face-to-face appointments and networking is essential. The candidate will be accountable to sell premium suites, hospitality packages, 100+ group ticket sales, sponsorship packages and corporate event rentals for Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Essential Functions:

·         Prospect and cultivate premium season seat holder clientele through phone calls, emails, face to face appointments, in facility presentations, and inbound inquires.

·         Sell premium suites, hospitality packages, 100+ group ticket sales and sponsorship packages for Atlanta Motor Speedway.

·         Meet and exceed monthly sales and productivity goals as outlined by the Vice President of Sales.

·         Provide weekly activity summaries as outlined by the Vice President of Sales.

·         Maintain a high level of customer service with all sales relationships in the marketplace.

·         Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree required – preferably in Sports Marketing or Business Administration
•Minimum of two (2) years of ticket sales, high end premium sales experience or sponsorship sales required.
•Experience selling in Atlanta area a plus.
•Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to communicate effectively with prospects, customers and internal team.
•Excellent time management and organizational skills a must.

•Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Salesforce.

•Knowledge of motorsports preferred but not required.

Internship: Any Internship
Events Department Intern (Summer 2017) - Atlanta Motor Speedway (Hampton, GA)

The Events Department internship program at Atlanta Motor Speedway provides college students the opportunity to gain experience in promotions, event planning, logistics, execution, and motorsports. It allows students to network with people within the motorsports industry and local community while working at one of the premier racing facilities in the United States. By the end of this internship you will have a better understanding of the process and preparation that goes into planning and working a variety of major events.


The internship will last from May through August (dates may be negotiated) and all interns will have the opportunity to experience a multitude of events on many different levels. While this internship is unpaid, some of the work done during events and while working as a part of our promotions team will be paid at an hourly rate. The schedule is flexible to allow you ample time to attend classes; however, there will be mandatory events required of the intern.

Qualifications:
College Level Student- B.A., B.S. or majoring in communications, sport management, Kinesiology, marketing, or related field. Good organizational and communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy. Intern must be able to work any scheduled event nights and weekends that fall during the internship.

Communications/Community Relations: Media/Public Relations Servicing
Marketing & Promotion Internship, (Summer) - Atlanta Motor Speedway (Hampton, GA)

Atlanta Motor Speedway's internship program provides hands-on experience in many different aspects of the marketing and promotion of auto racing events. The program offers serious, career-minded students a quality learning experience and the opportunity to form valuable relationships in preparation for a career in the professional sports industry. The internship is an unpaid opportunity for credit-earning college students. A successful internship experience will not necessarily translate into permanent employment; however, interns are given at least the same consideration as other candidates when job opportunities arise. Candidates who successfully complete the program will be considered to work the 2017 NASCAR weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Summer semester: Cover letter and resumes being accepted now for summer internship, to begin mid-May.

Who Can Apply
Credit-earning college students who apply will be considered for the position. While sport management and marketing majors are preferred, there is no course of study that is required for internships and each applicant will be considered.

Interviews
Qualified applicants will be contacted for an initial telephone interview in addition to a formal interview with the marketing and promotion staff. Applications will be accepted through April 7, and the formal interview process will take place in the week(s) following.

Job Description

The marketing and promotion intern will work a full-time schedule, focusing mainly on helping the marketing and promotion department prepare for and execute two summer racing series: Thursday Thunder and Friday Night Drags. Under the supervision of the communications manager, the marketing and promotion intern will provide support with copy writing, media outreach, promotional appearances and other duties including but not limited to the list below. A successful candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, possess excellent written and verbal communications skills, be highly organized and have a well-developed sense of initiative.

Duties and Responsibilities

·         Assist in writing race event releases, stats, notes and features

·         Update and maintain media guides

·         Keep and maintain media clip file

·         Help plan and execute all media events and promotions

·         Help create and send invitations to all media events

·         Brainstorm and research for interesting, off-beat notes to be used at race times

·         Distribute press guides to those requesting general track information

·         Help compile story ideas and bio information for race programs

·         Ensure all local and national community events calendars are accurate and up to date with track events and activities

·         Fulfill switchboard rotation duties

·         Assist marketing and promotion department as needed with day-to-day activities

Please note this description is a general overview of the position and may include additional tasks and responsibilities based on the intern performance. The position will report to the communications manager.

Office Hours
Applicants will work Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and are expected to be motivated and willing to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends during events.

The summer Marketing and Promotion internship at Atlanta Motor Speedway requires interns to work most Thursday and Friday evenings throughout the summer (June-August). Please take this into consideration when applying
