Corporate Sales Intern - Atlanta Motor Speedway (Hampton, GA)

This department involves working with clients and sponsors on a national, regional and local level. The Corporate Sales Department focuses on fully developing integrated marketing partnerships between the client and the speedway. This department seeks outgoing, creative, highly motivated, can-do individuals with good communication skills. 

Specific Intern Duties: Assisting Sales Executives with sales proposals for existing and potential clients, research of companies and other possible sales opportunities, activating one of our many events which include, NASCAR, car shows, drag racing, etc. Daily office duties such as answering phone calls, filing, data management would also be a part of the position.

Interns must be able to work a minimum of 25 hours per week plus all events held during the semester.

This is an unpaid internship for college credit.

Facility Operations/Event Staff: Event Operations/Management
Event Coordinator/Manager - Atlanta Motor Speedway (Hampton, GA)

Position requires candidate to have the ability to perform quality work on deadlines, with and without direct supervision, ability to interact professionally with clients, other employees and vendors, work effectively, efficiently and independently on assignments while understanding the need for clear and constant communication with clients, employees and departments.

Responsibilities include:

  • Track rental management: Work with other Event Manager to oversee daily track rental program
    • Oversee all event service logistics, event management and post event wrap-up
    • Keep track rental calendar up-to-date and accurate
    • Prepare client proposals and/or agreements
    • Research market for and make contact with potential new client business
  • Short Track program:
    • Responsible for Friday Night Drag event management including but not limited to race direction, score keeping, and other competition elements
    • Assist with various aspects of Legends and Bandolero event management including but not limited to chief pit steward, promotional/planning meetings, practices, event schedules and staffing
  • NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Event
    • Assist with all assigned event logistical duties. Examples could include traffic, parking lot management, perimeter road control and other guest programs. 
  • Administrative duties
    • Writing agreements, purchase orders, coi’s, rfi’s, filing, calendar updates, phones, account list, receptionist duties, mailings, creating spreadsheets and word documents for data entry and tracking, etc.

Marketing & Promotions Internship - Speedway Children's Charities, Non-Profit; Term 2 (May-August) - Speedway Children's Charities - Atlanta Chapter (Hampton, GA)

Speedway Children's Charities (SCC) at Atlanta Motor Speedway needs highly motivated interns with a desire to excel. College students with a wide range of backgrounds and degrees can jump-start their careers in our event management program. The internship offers serious, career-minded students great work experience and the opportunity to form valuable relationships.  With this internship you will be provided with experience in event management, marketing, promotions, public relations, and sponsorship sales.

Semesters and Application Timelines
Internship positions will be available in the spring, summer and fall semesters. Applications will be reviewed in a reasonable amount of time after they have been received and eligible applicants will be contacted thereafter.

Who Can Apply and What's Expected
Credit earning college students who apply will be considered for internships. While sports management degrees are increasing in popularity, there is no course of study that is required for internships and all will be considered. This internship is great for any career-minded individual interested in event management.

Interviews
Qualified applicants will be called for an initial telephone interview in addition to a formal interview with the SCC staff.

Duties
The SCC intern assists in organizing events, compiling event databases and contact lists, assisting in design and implementation of sponsorship proposals, creating press releases, designing marketing tools, and connecting with the community through volunteer organization. 

Office Hours
Applicants are expected to be motivated and be willing to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends during events.

Internship: Marketing
Marketing and Promotion Internship - Summer - Atlanta Motor Speedway (Hampton, GA)

Atlanta Motor Speedway's internship program provides hands-on experience in many different aspects of the marketing and promotion of auto racing events. The program offers serious, career-minded students a quality learning experience and the opportunity to form valuable relationships in preparation for a career in the professional sports industry. The internship is an unpaid opportunity for credit-earning college students. A successful internship experience will not necessarily translate into permanent employment; however, interns are given at least the same consideration as other candidates when job opportunities arise. Candidates who successfully complete the program will be considered to work the 2016 NASCAR weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

  • Keep and maintain media clip file

  • Brainstorm and research for interesting, off-beat notes to be used at race times
  • Distribute press guides to those requesting general track information
  • Help compile story ideas and bio information for race programs
  • Ensure all local and national community events calendars are accurate and up to date with track events and activities
  • Fulfill switchboard rotation duties
  • Assist marketing and promotion department as needed with day-to-day activities
