The Atlanta Motor Speedway is looking for college students or recent graduates who are interested in learning the skills needed to land their first job in professional sports.

Experience needed for a job in minor or major league sports consists of SALES, promotions, SALES, media relations, SALES, public relations, SALES, customer service, SALES, in game entertainment, SALES....well, you get the picture.

The most important experience you can acquire during an internship or entry level program is SALES experience.  You must demonstrate the ability to bring people to the stadium, arena, coliseum, or speedway.  That's what our 12 week program is designed for.  You'll learn several different sales techniques and styles to help you personalize the methods that will make you successful in your sports career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Answer questions concerning NASCAR weekend tickets, events, and schedules.
  • Make approximately 100 outbound calls per day to past customers and prospects to sell tickets and ancillary upsells for NASCAR weekend.
  • Maintain accurate computer records of prospects and customers within the CRM and ticketing systems.
  • Balance cash and receipt drawer at the end of each shift.
  • Take inbound sales calls.
  • Provide courteous and professional customer service.
  • Answer customer emails and chats with concise and professional answers.

Requirements:

  • Have a desire to work in minor or major league sports.
  • Be available for a 12 week program in the AMS ticket office beginning in January 2018.
  • Respond promptly to customer needs in a kind and coureous manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Have a professional appearance - no visable tattoos or piercings.
  • Skilled in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.

Business Development Executive – Premium Sales

Overview: 

Atlanta Motor Speedway is one of America’s most iconic NASCAR tracks. If you love motorsports and developing relationships, this could be your chance at a dream career.  We are looking for an individual that is passionate about motorsports to join our team and develop/sell premium inventory at our modern facility.

Summary:

Primarily responsible for selling premium inventory including but not limited to, event sponsorships, annual suites, multi-year suites, large corporate block ticket sales, hospitality chalet’s, motorhome hospitality and track rentals/corporate events.  You will be provided with a pool car for traveling to appointments, cell phone and lap top.  Compensation is salary plus commissions providing you with uncapped earning potential.  Some travel to other NASCAR races will be required for business prospecting.

Major Responsibilities:

  • This position will be focused on prospecting, appointment setting, executing sales presentations, and closing sales.
  • Set and conduct out of office sales appointments throughout the Georgia area.
  • Entertain and nurture relationships with clients and prospects through creative means including but not limited to: networking events, speaking engagements, one-on-one dinners / lunches and outside meetings.
  • Due to the nature of this role, the candidate must be willing to work non-traditional hours, weekends and event days.
  • The candidate will be accountable for certain levels of activity (calls and appointments), appointment goals, and closed sales goals.
  • Candidate should possess an optimistic team-first attitude, as well as the competitive desire to be the best.

Job Requirements:

During this internship, the Corporate Sales Intern will gain valuable experience and knowledge of corporate sales, live events and the motorsports industry while supporting the Corporate Sales team with all efforts on multiple platforms. Activities will include partner activation and market research. The intern must be readily available to work long hours and possible weekends.

Position

·         Assist the sales department, including Client Services, with sales proposals for existing and potential clients.

·         Researching sales opportunities.

·         Assist with asset management and tracking

·         Assist with sending out tickets, suite passes and other event information to track partners.

·         Other duties as assigned by the Corporate Sales staff.

·         The duration of this position will include the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series event weekend, Summit Racing Equipment Atlanta Motorama and the start of O'Reilly Auto Parts Friday Night Drags.

·         This is an unpaid internship for college credit only.

Candidate

·         Must be able to work a minimum of 25 hours per week PLUS all events held during their term.

The Atlanta Motor Speedway is looking for Event Ticket Sales Representatives to join our team for part time  temporary work from the first week of January through the February 25th NASCAR race weekend.  Following the conclusion of race weekend, work may be available on a limited basis when special events are scheduled at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, such as Motorama, Friday Night Drags, etc.

Marketing & Promotion Internship - Spring 2018 - Atlanta Motor Speedway (Hampton, GA)

Atlanta Motor Speedway's internship program provides hands-on experience in many different aspects of the marketing and promotion of auto racing events. The program offers serious, career-minded students a quality learning experience and the opportunity to form valuable relationships in preparation for a career in the professional sports industry. The internship is an unpaid opportunity for credit-earning college students. A successful internship experience will not necessarily result into permanent employment; however, interns are given at least the same consideration as other candidates when permanent job opportunities arise.

Current Opening
Spring semester: Cover letter and resumes being accepted now for Spring 2018 internship, to begin in early January and end in early May.

Who Can Apply
Credit-earning college students who apply will be considered for the position. While sport management and marketing majors are preferred, there is no course of study that is required for internships, and each applicant will be considered. Candidates should have quality writing samples prepared to submit.

Job Description
The marketing and promotion intern will work a full-time schedule, focusing mainly on helping the marketing and promotion department prepare for and execute two major events: the 2018 AMS NASCAR Weekend (Feb. 23-25) and the Summit Racing Equipment Atlanta Motorama (April 28-29). Under the supervision of the communications manager, the marketing and promotion intern(s) will provide support with copy writing, media outreach, promotional appearances and other duties including but not limited to the list below. The candidate will also work each day of the NASCAR Weekend as a press box and/or media center assistant. The candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, possess excellent written and verbal communications skills, be highly organized and have a well-developed sense of initiative.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in writing race event releases, stats, notes and features
  • Update media guides
  • Keep and maintain a comprehensive media clip file
  • Coordinate and facilitate off-site promotional events
  • Help plan and execute all media events and promotions
  • Help create and send invitations to all media events
  • Brainstorm and research for interesting, off-beat notes to be used at race times
  • Distribute press guides to those requesting general track information
  • Help compile story ideas and bio information for race programs
  • Ensure all local and national community events calendars are accurate and up to date with track events and activities
  • Fulfill switchboard rotation duties
  • Assist marketing and promotion department as needed with day-to-day activities
