Facility Operations/Event Staff: Maintenance
Event Operations - Atlanta Motor Speedway (Hampton, GA)

Summary:  Provides general assistance to Event Services before and after events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Perform minor repairs of buildings and equipment
  • Perform track configurations changeovers
  • Landscaping
  • Arranges furniture, cones, barricades, and equipment for special events
  • Operating equipment
  • Assists skilled maintenance workers with projects
  • Clean buildings, bathrooms, ground areas as needed and/or assigned
  • Specific skill-based competencies required to work with powered tools, adhering to safety practices
  • Maintain assigned vehicles, tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition.
  • Must be personable, enthusiastic, professional and courteous
  • Must be available to work extended hours, holidays, and weekends
  • Must have good attendance record
  • Must be flexible and able to handle multiple tasks
  • Must be fit to lift and/or move up to 80 pounds
  • High school diploma, one to three months related experience
  • Verbal communications are essential

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to repetitive physical demands such as standing for long periods of time, walking, climbing and/or balancing, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Employee is frequently exposed to moving and mechanical parts.  Employee will be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.  Work is performed outdoors and some tasks may be required to be performed regardless of weather conditions.

Applicant must be able to work in a team environment, possess a valid driver's license and be able to work flexible hours.

While there is no guarantee of a specific number of hours of work, expected hours to be approximately 10-15 hours per week.

Facility Operations/Event Staff: Grounds Crew/Turf Management
Grounds Maintenance - Landscaper - Atlanta Motor Speedway (Hampton, GA)

Semi-skilled position under the direction of the Operations Department.  Employee will perform work required for the care, maintenance and development of lawns, landscape beds, trees, and irrigation systems.  This position is classified as non-exempt for the purpose of the Fair Labor Standards Act.  Employees work 5 days a week, 8 hours a day with a 30 minute lunch break.  Employees are also required to work event dates (Saturday & Sunday) periodically throughout the year.

Employee will operate tractors, riding mowers, walk behind mowers, push mowers, backhoes, skid loaders, weed eaters, edger's, chain saws, chippers, stump grinders, back-pack blowers, sprayers, hedge trimmers, hand saws, rakes, shovels and other small tools.

Work is performed outdoors and some tasks may be required to be performed regardless of weather conditions.  The employee will be exposed to loud noise, machinery with moving parts, dirt, dust, debris, chemicals and foul odors.

Depending on the job duties assigned employees may be performing lifting and pulling on a more or less frequent basis.  Employees are able to get help with lifting heavy objects, but must be able to lift up to 80 lbs.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Cuts grass with power equipment or hand tools
  • Loads and unloads dirt, gravel, sand, mulch and debris
  • Removes refuse and trash from grounds
  • Standing/Walking is required constantly throughout the day depending on the job.
  • Reaching is required constantly using landscaping equipment, shoveling, tilling and reaching for limbs
  • Gripping is performed constantly
  • Climbing is required occasionally
  • Pulling/Pushing is required constantly
  • Bending/Squatting/Twisting is required constantly when shoveling different material and performing landscaping duties.
  • Lifting/Carrying is required constantly in carrying a weed eater, shoveling of materials, picking up debris.  Also required occasionally is lifting bags of seed, fertilizer, pressure sprayers, blowers, limbs and trash bags from trash bins throughout the property.  This responsibility increases during event dates.
