Tour Interns must possess exceptional customer service and communication skills. Performance Racing Network Intern (Summer 2017: June-August) - Charlotte Motor Speedway (Concord, NC)

PRN broadcasts live radio play-by-play NASCAR action and also syndicates five racing programs to over 700 stations nationwide. PRN is looking for motivated and energetic interns with a desire to excel in the fields of motorsports, marketing, sales, public relations, and broadcasting. Interns with PRN are given the opportunity to work in many areas including sales, affiliations and on-air broadcasting.

Mobile Marketing Intern (Summer 2017: June-August) - Charlotte Motor Speedway (Concord, NC)

 The Mobile Marketing intern will work closely with our Marketing and Communications departments to make appearances with our Fan Van to promote Charlotte Motor Speedway, zMAX Dragway and The Dirt Track,  within the surrounding communities. The Fan Van is a grassroots marketing vehicle that travels to various events, such as grand openings, sponsor events, birthday parties, tailgating events, fundraisers, community events, and more. The Fan Van is equipped with video gaming systems, corn hole, activities, music, and promotional items. This intern will be required to take initiative and brainstorm creative places and events for the Fan Van to attend. Great customer service skills, a creative mindset, and a team player attitude are a must! As the Fan Van intern, you will receive the chance to gain experience in many departments of Charlotte Motor Speedway.

A minimum of 20 hours per week (credit eligible) are required. This is an unpaid internship, but a stipend will be paid at the end of the completion of a successful internship.

Job Responsibilities:
• Coordinate all appearances for the Fan Van. This includes corresponding with customers who want to book the Fan Van for birthday parties, tailgating events, fundraisers, community events, grand openings, and more.
• Drive the Fan Van to all appearances, set up and work Fan Van, and clean-up Fan Van after the event concludes.
• Represent Charlotte Motor Speedway in a positive manner at all times while promoting future events through grassroots marketing.
• Brainstorm new, creative places to take the Fan Van.
• Work with Corporate Sales on grand openings or sponsor events that would like to utilize the Fan Van.
• Work with the Tickets and Marketing departments on the ticket selling and promotional aspect of the Fan Van.
• Keep track of Fan Van inventory.

Qualifications:
• Must be 21 years of age with clean background check
• Minimum 3.0 GPA or better

Security Intern (Summer 2017: June-August) - Charlotte Motor Speedway (Concord, NC)

Interns working in the Security Department will be responsible for assisting the officer on duty with attending to the first floor lobby office during normal business hours by answering guest's questions, answering the phone, and operating the camera system for potential issue.

Daily activities include- locking and unlocking doors, gates, and offices; the signing in and out of keys; monitoring deliveries in and out of the building through the loading docks; and greeting and assisting guest. The Security intern will also help out other departments as needed, such as our Guest Services and Logistics team. Making our guests' visit to CMS as enjoyable as possible, is one of our top priorities.

•Candidates will perform administrative work and partner with our security teams during events.
•Responsible for gate control to ensure people with the proper credentials have access to restricted areas
•Assist in day-to-day operations. This may involve making phone calls, computer work, and guest services

Event Operations Intern (Summer 2017: June-August) - Charlotte Motor Speedway (Concord, NC)

The Operations Department is seeking candidates who are self-starting and able to multitask in a fast paced changing environment. Candidates who are looking to gain a working knowledge of the event operational aspects of a multi-function racing complex which will include NASCAR racing, Car Shows, Track Rentals, and daily maintenance of our facilities.

Interns duties to include:

  • Provide daily assistance to the Event Operations Department including assisting the Event Operations Manager plan and prepare for each event
  • Assist Event Operation team members with checklists and maintaining/monitoring  work logs
  • Operate equipment to assist in the setup and teardown of events including rustlers, golf carts, and forklifts
  • Research the needs for upcoming projects in the operations department. 
  • Daily tracking activities will include facility maintenance, equipment inventory, fuel usage, work orders, and time sheets.
  • Assist in the coordination of fan logistics including the fan assistance golf cart program, trams, and shuttle buses
  • During events—Assist team members with on call duties and assist fans when needed
  • Maintain records and staffing plans for department efficiency and productivity
  • Other duties assigned

Qualifications:

  •  Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Motorsports, Event, Operations, or Business Management from an accredited college or university
  •  Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and proven ability to meet deadlines
  •  Must be able to work during the week and on the weekends when events are in the facility. Extended work hours are also required during events
  • Must have a positive and optimistic attitude
  •  Willing to work outside and out of an office for the majority of the internship

The Racing Operations Department is seeking candidates who are self-starting and able to multitask in a fast paced environment. Interns in this department need exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Assist Director of Racing Operations in all aspects of on-track and competition racing operations.

  • Help coordinate with NASCAR and other racing series for scheduling, logistics, race operations, and event management
  • Assist with all Action Sports related entities
  • Assist the CMS Events Department with events at CMS 1.5 mile track, the dirt track, and the zMAX Dragway.
  • Assist with Summer Shootout and all US Legends operations with CMS
  • Assist with all on-track racing activities
  • Help facilitate safety and ground logistics with stunts for pre-race shows or press conferences
  • Work directly with facility operations to ensure work orders from events and GS&L are prioritized and managed accordingly

CMS is one of the busiest facilities in the country and this internship will help with track rental customers. This is a hands on, fast paced internship. A lot of experience will be gained in event preparation and planning.

Intern must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week plus all events held during the semester.
Word and Excel Spreadsheet experience required.

This is an unpaid internship. As a token of gratitude, all interns who complete the semester internship and work the race events held during the semester internship will receive a stipend.

Events Department Intern (Summer 2017: June-August) - Charlotte Motor Speedway (Concord, NC)

The Events Department offers interns practical experience in the production, promotion and execution of national, regional and grassroots events.

We are seeking quick-learning and self-starting candidates who desire to gain an extensive working knowledge of NASCAR, short-track, drag racing, and special events. In addition to assisting in administrative and office duties, candidates will be required to assist with registration and sign in of competitors, lifting and moving of event supplies and equipment, ticket sales and various other race day duties. Additional non-event duties may include assisting other departments with promotional appearances, covering telephones, data entry, and staffing guest services/hospitality positions for events. 

Ideal candidates must be a team player, customer-friendly, organized, outgoing, professional and able to deal effectively with frequent interruptions in a demanding environment. Due to the dynamic nature of the business, multi-tasking skills and the ability to think on the fly are a must. Excellent computer and customer relation skills are a must. Knowledge of the short-track and drag racing industry is a plus.

The Ticket Department at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway offers hands on experience in ticket sales and customer service. Digital Media Intern (Summer 2017) - New Hampshire Motor Speedway (Loudon, NH)

Summary

New Hampshire Motor Speedway is looking for a highly-motivated Digital Media Intern that is prepared to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.  The focus of the internship will be to assist the Digital Media Manger in daily operations and content production across digital media platforms.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist the Digital Media Manager with daily content production on NHMS.com, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and Snapchat.
  • Edit promotional and track-related videos using Final Cut Pro.
  • Work assigned weekends to provide media coverage of track-related events or to operate the @NHMS Twitter account during NASCAR races.
  • Learn to use Google/YouTube/Twitter Analytics and Facebook/Meltwater Insights to produce regular reports on website and social media traffic.
  • Gain a working knowledge of the NHMS.com content management system to update the website.
  • Assist the Communications Department where needed, including with event planning and execution.

Skills and Attributes

  • Understanding of social media: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and Snapchat.
  • A working knowledge of NASCAR and auto racing in general.
  • Video editing experience with Final Cut Pro (or a comparable program) is preferred.
  • Experience videotaping live sports action and conducting interviews.
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop is a plus.
  • Ability to listen and adapt in a fast-paced environment, and take responsibility for projects from start to finish.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends.  This includes the Sept. NASCAR race (Sept. 22-24) as a completion of the internship.
  • Willingness to contribute creative ideas to the Communications Department.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.

Degree-seeking college student majoring in communications, journalism, or related field.

Marketing Intern - Texas Motor Speedway (Fort Worth, TX)

As the Marketing Intern with the Marketing Department at Texas Motor Speedway, you will have the opportunity to gain experience in a creative business environment including implementing ideas that extend the motorsports brand through web-based marketing, social media and promotions.  

The internship allows students to network with people within the motorsports industry and local community while working at one of the premier racing facilities in the United States. By the end of this internship, you will have a better understanding of the process and preparation that goes into planning and working at a race facility.

The voluntary internship will last, at minimum, the length of a semester, and all interns will experience multiple events including a major race weekend. The schedule is flexible and allows the student ample time to attend classes. However, the student will be required to attend certain events. While obtaining course credit for this internship by their college is not required, it is preferred.

Qualifications:

Texas Motor Speedway, the leader in motorsports-based entertainment, is seeking a paid Graphic Design intern to join the Marketing Department to assist with all things graphic design including web, social, email, mobile and print. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in production of creative deliverables for a wide range of channels including web, social, email, mobile and print.
